Essential Element

Writer: Shelly BlaisdellShelly Blaisdell

I

If there were no men in the world

there would be no reason to whisper

no reason to learn the language

no mysteries to chew on

no babies to save us

no bacon

If you were not here

I would not soften my jaw

I would not sharpen my gaze

I would not ache

If you were not here

Mist would not rise from pools

Crops would not flower

Lightning would not strike

I can plow the field

I can dress a deer

I can slay the dragons

I can get us there

I'm planting these peas for our party

I'm curing this meat for our winters

I'm protecting our home with my blood

I need you to know
