If She was here

Writer: Shelly BlaisdellShelly Blaisdell

If she was here today, I'd take her to the Museum of Jurasic technology to hear the tiny wolf howling in the bell jar.

Then we'd go to the Self Realization Lake shrine to marvel at giant orange dragon flies and she would tell me stories about Shiva and Durga mixed with stories about catholic saints.

Then I'd take her to Union Station where we would drink coffee and watch all the people coming and going and she would tell me about all the places she's been and the people she's known.

I never really knew her, but I know so much about her from her letters. I've decided that my imagination is allowed to stand in for knowing. And I imagine she'd want to spend the day with me, eating rich foods and exploring the city, touching everything and making friends with strangers in cafes.
